Galapagos Islands Komodo Dragons. The Komodo dragon, Varanus komodoensis, is the largest lizard endemic to five islands in southeast Indonesia. They live in hot dry grasslands near areas of volcanic. They live on the islands of Komodo, Rinca and other tiny surrounding islands, and on the westernmost part of Flores Island in Indonesia. Komodo dragons live in tropical savannahs, stream side thickets and coastal regions.
On Flores, the fifth and largest island, three nature reserves, Wae Wuul, Wolo Tado and Riung.
